…I had a birthday and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. It was truly one of the best ones in YEARS. So much love in my life. Made me all weepy.
My DH made a special dinner and my kids were just fantastic. It was as if they just knew that it wasn’t the day to give me any grief. And I even blew out candles! So much fun. I should make a point of doing it every year.
I had a mini-break here and it was food for the soul. The place that we went to is in Montagu and I have to say that it is such a quaint little small town. My DH and I even went to buy their Muscadel which was inexpensive and delicious! The weather was lovely (it only started to rain when we left), my kids and my DH had a great time (I was so relaxed that I even let the routine go out the window – it was FINE) and I just kept thinking about how blessed I am. Btw David Kramer actually wrote a song about Montagu which my DH was singing to me all bloody week! When I finally heard the lyrics I just laughed and laughed and laughed because it is EXACTLY like he says. Here’s the clip.
I finished 2 books and got to start on my 4th one for the month. Don’t you just love holidays for all the reading catch-up?
I spent my entire Saturday in bed. With my computer and my Rose. My kids entertained themselves. My DH pottered around the house. It was exactly what the Dr ordered. Sometimes one needs time to recover from ones holiday.
Today we had lunch with my parents and this afternoon I had a friend date. My friend E treated me to a movie and dessert afterwards as a birthday gift. I had such a good time and I LOVE that he just gets that as much as I love getting actual gifts from people, I really do prefer connection plus food. The movie we watched was called Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and it was beautiful and moving and very inspiring. Go watch it. Here’s some info on it.
This week marks the start of a new school term. Must say I have really enjoyed these holidays. Maybe because my kids slept out for a whole 6 days, maybe because we had a great break, maybe because the traffic etc is just non-existent.
How was your weekend? What are you looking forward to this week?
