Tuesday: this and that

1. I want to say that I am so over winter but then I think of the heat that is coming and I am scared. I definitely prefer cooler weather. So I am not quite enjoying winter (it is the coldest one if forever) but I’m not disliking it that much either. Lots of comfort food, layered clothing, series watching, hot water bottles, reading and lying under blankets happening in these parts. How are the icy winters treating you?

2. Child1 had a birthday yesterday and he had a FABULOUS time. I had to send cake and milo to school, my parents came to fetch him for lunch and birthday present shopping, we did a little braai for dinner and I obviously gave him the day off from all chores. I even had to run him a bubble bath! Honestly, he helps me a lot in the evenings. I was exhausted last night from having to do EVERYTHING! And on Saturday he goes to a movie and lunch and b-day present shopping with my sister. Oh, and I had to go to the bakery last night. Because he wanted cake for the kids at aftercare today. Eish. I think that this may be the longest birthday ever!

3. I have never had a party for Child2 and seeing that his birthday has always happened during the week, it was easy to just send cake to school. This year his birthday falls on a Sunday and I’m wondering if I should have something small for him. This is the kid who doesn’t like too many people in his space for too long. This is the kid who (when we are visiting people) will tell me (loudly) that it’s time to go home NOW! This is the kid who will go and lie down (or run himself a bath)  when we have visitors and they are in his space for too long. I am not quite sure what to do for him. But I do want to celebrate his birthday properly for a change.

4. I am off for a spa date with some ladies this coming weekend. I cannot even BEGIN to tell you how much I need it. Really people, I am counting the sleeps already even though I am a bit nervous!

Anyways. How are you? How was your Tuesday?

So yes to the party for child 2. Ask him how he wants to do it – they usually have very clear ideas. BTW< my daughter told me it makes her sad when there are too many people here in our house! She is her father's daughter!!!

    Your spa weekend sounds divine.

I'm well over winter but did I not call it the other day? Tomorrow it's going to be a GLORIOUS 24 degrees. YEsssssss!!!

I’m with you on the winter thing. Had enough of being cold and winter eating. Oh and washing that takes forever to dry.

The great thing about a Sunday birthday is you could do something around tea time and onLy invite people that understand him so they won’t overstay and overwhelm him.

Oh I am so over winter but then everybody knows I am fine with 35 degrees C – I really suffered this one. So going to enjoy today’s weather (liek Marcia). Glad child 1 had a great boirthday and yeah on the spa day – I would almost kill for one.

About child2′s birthday – why not just invite close family that he knows well?

I am not enjoying the cold weather…seriously, I grew up in Durban and absolutely love the heat..I love the sun. When I see the sun and it heats up the day, I am happy. I told my B this morning that I am in a good mood when the sun wakes me up because it is smiling at me….I know, I am a little child.
Child 1 – Happy happy birthday
Child 2 – Party vote!!!! But keep it small. I have only had one party for Jadakins but I have already made the decision that, until she is old enough to tell me to stop, I will be making her birthday cake every year

I am totally over winter too. I want sun and rain and flowers and green lawn and swimming and ice cream and long walks without the risk of frostbite, and especially I want NOT to have to argue with my daughter every morning about how many layers of clothing is really appropriate.

We have had the coldest, wettest winter ever. I never liked winter and am now growing to slowly hate it when I see another cold front approaching.

Awwwww, I like winter (at least the mild winters we have here). Though my favourite is spring and autumn – the in-between weathers not too harsh. I do not like SUMMER at all ;-(

Nice your boy had a good birthday and that he enjoyed too. I especially liked that you ran him a bath (how decadent)

For Child 2 ask him if he wants a birthday party or prepare him for the fact that there might be a few in the house to celebrate his birthday, but nothing over the top that he gets overwhelmed!!! I would say only close family members and friend that understand him

    Enjoy your spa date.
Have a nice and restful weekend

    XOXO
