I don’t know why but despite the fact that I’ve been getting into bed at a decent hour every single night, I am VERY tired these days. I can’t get up in the mornings and in the evenings I am too exhausted to do what needs to be done.
I sent my kids to bed tonight after giving them 2-minute noodles for dinner – made by my Tween because I couldn’t. My poor child felt really bad and thought I was sick so he made me a toasted cheese sandwich with a cup of tea. Such a sweetheart.
My DH is working late so I’m currently alone with them. I didn’t even have the energy to check his homework this evening and just signed it off. I really hope it’s all fine. I’m actually writing this blog post whilst in bed – am lying on my side.
I am getting proper sleep at night. I had a bit of insomnia the past two weeks but I feel that I managed to nap enough in the afternoons to make up for this. I think that if I wasn’t exercising it would be so much worse. To be honest, I feel more than tired. I feel drained.
I’m not sure if this is just my body’s way of “objecting” about the horrible month that has just passed or what.
I was thinking that maybe I need a supplement of sorts. Or a vitamin or whatever. Ironically, my DH and I don’t take any vitamins, yet we make sure that our kids get theirs every single day.
I went to Clicks earlier and there are like a million products. I felt a wave of fatigue wash over me just looking at the various ranges on the shelves. I walked out feeling overwhelmed -so unlike me – I usually just go for something that is cost effective and seems to have ALL the vitamins included.
Any ideas on what I can take? Do you take supplements/vitamins? If so, what are you using?
Jules, I’ve tried every “miracle” energizer on the market, including Vit B jabs and they do sweet f-all! From my own experience, I’d say, just keep up with some moderate exercise and keep eating well and sleep when you can and it should pass. You’ve had a rough month, I think your body is responding in a perfectly normal way.
Just one other question… it’s not depression? I’ve been depressed before and depression makes me extremely tired, like not get out of bed for days tired!
Hope you feel better soon!
That is such a crap feeling
D and I dont take anything but we should – so keep us posted on what you find
D is very good with vitamins and I used to be but I’ve slacked so much – why? I don’t know!
But generally I take a vit C, a multi-vitamin and I used to take a calcium/ magnesium supplement (Mg for immunity). And I take anything – best value for money although I do like the bettaway slow release multivits at Clicks (about R50 for a month)
Have found a vitamin you like yet? I take Shaklee products and really feel a difference . All my family does as well. You can read about my choices @ http://www.mylivingbetter.com. I offer free consultations if you would like to talk about your specific needs.
I’m not a fan of synthetic vitamins, as it is believed that they lead to deficiencies. My favorite kind of supplement is a whole food green juice type, but as part of my recovery from adrenal exhaustion I get regular VIT B complex shots – once a month, but at one stage I was getting them weekly. They do provide a boost.
Also, with regards to sleep, it’s important to get at least two hours before midnight. And the room must be dark. I have now bought myself a sleep mask and the difference in my quality of sleep is vast.
Also, try and get some sun on your bare skin whenever possible – your lunch hour perhaps. This helps to combat fatigue and depression and provides vital vitamin D. And try to leave your eyes uncovered in natural sunlight for a few minutes every day so that the pineal gland can be stimulated – this gland is responsible for the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone.
